These Terms of Service apply to your use of CAD Interoperability Reference (the “Site”) and the information published on it. By visiting or using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
What the Site provides
CAD Interoperability Reference is an informational publication about moving CAD and 3D design data between software ecosystems. It discusses representations, translators, exchange routes, dependencies, preservation risks, validation, and long-term reuse.
The Site is not an online converter, file-hosting service, design repository, testing laboratory, certification service, or managed exchange platform. It does not receive, process, store, or validate your design files through the pages covered by these terms.
Information is general and route-specific
Technical behavior can vary with the source application, destination application, product release, format or profile, import and export settings, dependencies, units, coordinates, and the task that follows the exchange.
Information on the Site is therefore general reference material, not a promise that a particular file will open, preserve a particular data layer, remain editable, or satisfy a supplier, manufacturing, BIM, inspection, rendering, or archival requirement. A support statement, standard, or successful import should not be treated as proof of a usable result for your route.
Professional judgment and safety
You are responsible for testing an exchange against the purpose it must serve before relying on it. Keep the source data and appropriate backups. Confirm the receiving party’s requirements, software versions, licenses, format profiles, tolerances, units, coordinates, dependencies, and acceptance checks.
The Site is not a substitute for qualified engineering, architectural, manufacturing, inspection, surveying, legal, information-security, or other professional advice. Do not use an article as the sole basis for releasing a part, building model, toolpath, inspection result, or safety-critical decision. Where a transfer affects people, property, regulated work, or production quality, involve the appropriately qualified person and use the governing project procedures.
Accuracy and availability
We aim to make the reference useful, clear, and appropriately qualified. We do not guarantee that every page is complete, current, error-free, or applicable to your software, release, file, workflow, or jurisdiction.
Formats, schemas, translators, products, and documentation change. Pages may be corrected, updated, reorganized, suspended, or removed without notice. The Site may also be unavailable or display incomplete information because of maintenance, hosting problems, or network conditions.
External sources and links
The Site may link to software documentation, standards organizations, vendor resources, research, government material, and other external sites. Those resources are operated independently. We do not control their availability, content, licensing terms, security, privacy practices, or future accuracy. A link identifies a resource relevant to the discussion; it does not by itself constitute an endorsement or guarantee.
Product names, company names, trademarks, logos, and format names belong to their respective owners. They are used to identify the technologies and documents being discussed. CAD Interoperability Reference is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by a referenced vendor unless a page expressly says otherwise.
Use of published material
You may read, print, cite, and link to individual pages for personal, educational, and ordinary professional reference, subject to applicable law and the rights of third parties.
Unless we say otherwise, the original writing, organization, and presentation of the Site belong to its operator. Do not reproduce, republish, sell, systematically extract, mirror, or redistribute substantial portions of the Site without permission, except where permitted by law. Facts, standards, third-party quotations, trademarks, and linked material remain subject to their own rights and terms.
No warranty; limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and its operator are not responsible for loss, damage, cost, delay, data loss, production impact, business interruption, or other consequence arising from use of, reliance on, or inability to access the Site or an external resource linked from it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability, warranties, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms of Service when the Site, its operation, or applicable requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with its latest update date. Continued use of the Site after an update means that the revised terms apply to future use, to the extent permitted by law.
